SERENA
SALERNO

1991.
Serena was born and grew up in Torre Annunziata, a city at the foot of Vesuvius.
She approached photography at the age of 18, experimented with his father’s cameras, quickly switched to analog, his main medium.
She studied photography at the Ilas Designer School in Naples, worked for Toni Thorimbert in Milan, moved to Rome where she will work for three years at M&S Materiale Fotografico honing his technical skills, moved to Paris in January 2022, where she still lives.
Growing up in the province develops in her a strong curiosity.
Dissatisfaction, feeling stuck in a world too small becomes fertile ground for her research.
She uses photography to get close to people, to get into their homes, to look at them closely, under a microscope.
Her main subjects are women, their bodies, seeks her femininity through her subjects.
Over time, photography became increasingly an integral part of her daily life, becoming almost documentation, her works ranging from portrait to daily diary, from nudes full of intimacy to more aesthetic works that thin the line between fashion and authorship.
She doesn’t like to define herself, in continuous evolution her work changes with her, with her eyes, her sensitivity, her feelings.
